Yah, I’ve experienced both of those approaches.

…we can do is to forgive ourselves and others for what they say or do when they’re exposed to grief. People lost in grief can say incredibly hurtful things. It’s not them talk it’s the grief. People witnessing from the outside can say incredibly tone deaf things because they simply don’t know what to say. In either case part of moving on for everyone is to accept that and forgive. This can be hard.
